Frrom vintageladies:
In a world full of online porn it’s strange to think that in the 30’s this was naughty.
Isn’t it though? Browsing through the pictures (and this one is tame compared to some of the other ones. Definitely worth checking out. Some very beautiful, classy stuff) over at Vintage Ladies, not only does the seemingly innocent risque nature of the photographs stand out against our modern images of pornography, but also the way womens’ bodies are portrayed themselves. The vintage images in this archive seem less exploitative than a picture of a naked woman does now. These women all seem to be smiling, happy, flirtatious, couquettes rather than, jeez, I don’t know, the plasticized, glossy and harsh products dominating the pornography industry today. But I see that not just in pornography when comparing the portrayal of womens’ bodies of today against those of the past. It’s everywhere. Women have some seriously complex issues surrounding their bodies. It really makes me wonder.
